Digital Core Photography

Despite using most sophisticated techniques, unconsolidated to friable cores are difficult to preserve. So a permanent record of these samples, before any deterioration occurs is essential.

At GOPSLAB, a set of high quality documentary photographs (either half or full scale) is taken as early in the laboratory process as possible. While this sounds like a simple assignment, it is actually a fine art. Crisp, clear photography of core requires patience, attention to detail, meticulous cleaning, and a keen eye for the lithology of the rock.
